The thermal process of foam glass
For example: the thermal process which produces foam glass with silicon carbide as foaming agent
The basic material is ordinary glass powder which accounts for about 98%,particle size is less than 125m, silicon carbide powder accounts for 2%, particle size is less than 10m . After adding appropriate amount of water,mixing evenly and filling in the open mold,it will account for about 30% of the mold height . Send the mould with mixed batch to the tunnel kiln and heat up to about 650 ℃, heat preservation for 3 hours, make the sintering of glass powder and silicon carbide powder and then rise the temperature to 880 ℃, heat preservation for 25 min, make it foaming. In order to maintain the structure of foam glass, the products must be cooled down to below 510℃ to eliminate stress caused by quenching. It requires to heat up to 620 ℃, the heat preservation for 15 min and then slowly cooled to about 480℃, then cooling to room temperature rapidly and make the coating treatment after the demoulding , finally we can get bulk foam glass.
